Help! What should I write about now?

I’m hardly ever at a loss for words… just ask my friends *wink* But it’s a regular question I hear from those people who are blogging and using social media to market their business.

“James, what should I write about now?”

Here’s the answer: Ask

Basically just ask your market what it wants and then give it to them. Now, I’m not suggesting you use a site survey, although they work well. No, I’m referring to a more subtle way of discovering the inspiration for your next ‘chunk-o-text.’

And here it is: Follow the footprints

Pay attention to what your market does (the footprints.) Look at your web logs. Where are they going? What pages do they visit most? Check out your site queries. Are they searching for certain key phrases? Tsis will show you what they seek.

A little bit of digging amongst the digital data will yield a plethora of potential ;-)
